Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life on your stage! Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.
It's the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella's alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

Ensemble
Jocks
The Jocks represent Troy’s basketball world at East High. They appear in athletic scenes and high-energy numbers like “Get’cha Head in the Game,” providing strong choreography, rhythmic movement, and vocal support. They help establish the pressure Troy feels to “stick to” sports and create much of the show’s physical intensity.

Thespians
The Thespians are Sharpay and Ryan’s theatre circle and bring dramatic flair to the production. They appear in auditions, rehearsals, and performance scenes, adding personality, comedy, and layered vocals. They help build the world of the school musical and emphasize the divide between theatre and athletics.
Skaters
The Skaters help fill out the social landscape of East High. Often seen in hallway and ensemble scenes, they visually represent one of the school’s many cliques. They contribute to group numbers like “Stick to the Status Quo,” reinforcing the theme that students are expected to stay in their social lanes.
Cheerleaders
The Cheerleaders energize the basketball scenes and pep rally moments with sharp movement and strong ensemble vocals. They support the Jocks and help create the excitement and school spirit that surrounds the Wildcats. Their choreography adds visual impact to athletic sequences.
Party Kids
The Party Kids appear in the opening New Year’s Eve scene, establishing the fun and celebratory tone at the start of the show. They dance and sing in the opening number, setting up Troy and Gabriella’s first meeting and launching the story.
Adults
The Adults fill out the faculty and parent presence at East High, supporting key roles like Ms. Darbus and Coach Bolton. They appear in classroom and rehearsal scenes, reinforcing authority figures and adding depth to the school environment.
Brainiacs
The Brainiacs represent Gabriella’s academic world and the science decathlon team. They appear in classroom scenes and “Stick to the Status Quo,” highlighting the academic expectations placed on students. Their presence helps illustrate the contrast between different social groups within the school.
Spectators
The Spectators populate the basketball game and final performance scenes, creating scale and excitement. They help build crowd energy, strengthen transitions, and make East High feel like a fully active school community.
